Just managed to get scooter running after sitting idle for months, however it constantly cuts out when I stop revving. It starts up again no problem but cuts out as soon as I stop.

Greetings:

Assuming it ran well when parked, the fuel system is the likely culprit. Especially in hot climates (or heated garages...) gasoline tends to evaporate, leaving a waxy material that can harden further into dry resin. The small passages in the carburetor - I'm also assuming it's a carbureted model if it's a 2001 - become caked with this stuff as the carburetor is vented. The Idle circuit is especially vulnerable because the atomizers have incredibly small holes.

The solution is to remove the carburetor and dismantle. Lots of instructions are online or you can check WikiSpreedia on the HondaSpree.net website. Go to the Tech sections and search for carb cleaning. Have a clean work surface and pay attention to the small parts. It's not all that hard.

Most of my money is spent on scooter parts. The rest is just wasted.
