My theory is just to have a low deductable on your theft insurance and then don’t worry about it anymore. I only pay 100 bucks in my bike gets stolen and I park it on the street all the time. It’s a lot easier than always chaining it up, or using disc locks and alarm systems.
As for lowjack I would definitely recommend that as well if you feel like paying the money, last I researched it they cost around 800-1200 dollars to install which is not worth it for my bike (I could probably only sell my bike for around $3500 right now since it is a 2001 with 35k miles). But if you have a brand new bike it may be worth it for you.
