Hi all.
I'm new to this forum and hoping someone has an answer for me.
I bought an 86, 250 Honda Elite last summer.
It seems to have charging problems.
I have to put it on a charger, or a trickle charger to get it to start.
If I don't, it doesn't crank or hold a charge.

What do I need to check to fix this ?

Thank you !
Dom

It is probably the stator and voltage regulator/rectifier. The engine has to be pulled to get these parts in. A 5 hour job at the shop. I just went through the issue in the last couple of weeks. I put a new battery in it and none of the running lights would work. Turns out it was the two parts i stated.

The service manual tells how to test the regulator/rectifier and also how to test the stator. It is in chapter 14, you can download the service manual in PDF form from Motor Scooter Guide site. Chapter 15 tells how to replace the stator if it tests bad, and chapter 18 shows the wire diagram so you can test all the wires before replacing any parts.
