A quick question. I saw a post earlier on the xena 14xx disc brake lock. I’ve looked into it and it seems like the best device on the market for the price.
My question is if it will fit a Honda CBR? I’ve called several web sites and they have told me that they think or are pretty sure it will fit. nothing definitive.April 28, 2010 at 8:12 am #26017MunchParticipant2 ways to find that out. 1st is the direct and not so cost effective approach, but it and try it. Second…. call the manufacturer directly and see if they have an application specific model or find a CBR board and see if anyone there has tried it.
With the windshield and fairing kit I have on my Vulcan 900 if you were to call memphis shades they will tell you that this kit is not designed to fit my specific bike model. Fortunately someone more financially sable then I had tried it out and it worked.

Having said that, please let me offer a couple of tips; 1) A disk lock is similar to a lock on your car door; it keeps honest people honest. It will not likely prevent a theft. 2) Cables through the frame and wheels and preferably around an immovable object with a cover over all of it is most preferable. 3) If you’re thinking that you’ll use it when you’re riding at meal stops, etc., I wouldn’t bother. The chances are unbelievably slim your bike will get snagged while you’re munching on a Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity.

It will take you to this fitment chart, where you can see if your bike is listed (CBRs are).
Also on the same page you can download and print the pdf chart with holes and dimensions, that you can then put next to your brake rotor and see for yourself if/where the lock you need fits.

Motorcycles are ofcourse more secure than bicycles because the ignition and steering can be locked and they are much more difficult to pick up and haul away. A disc lock or a cable lock around an immobile object provide a second level of security. Each provides a different security that must be defeated an will therefore provide be even better when used together.
Best security is to use a high quality security chain or U-lock to attach the frame to an immobile object. These are ofcourse expensive, heavy and can be difficult to use. As with any type of security it is a matter of trade offs. Any system can be defeated, better systems take more effort and a higher level of sophistication.Craig

I also went on the Xena website, thanks mhl, and found that they do indeed have a section that lists what bikes the lock will fit.
Finally, I live in the southwest by a border. Stolen cars and bikes here are as common as rain is in the northwest. I personally know 3 people that have had thier bikes stolen in the last couple of months. I know that there are no devices that will stop a theft 100% of the time but I figure I will make it as hard for them as I can. I try to lock my bike down to an inmovable object but this is not always possible. For now I will use the brake disk lock in conjunction with a u lock. Thanks again all. -
