I don’t own my bike yet, but I think I know a whole lot more about protection than some bikers. While driving to my home, I saw a guy riding a Hayabusa wearing a flimsy t-shirt, over the knee shorts, using those Airwalk shoes that offer no ankle protection, and no gloves. He only had his full face helmet. I know why he was riding like that, and it was because where I live there is only one season: summer. It is hot and humid throughout the whole year, but that isn’t an excuse for not using protection. For this weather it is recommend textile vented gear. Well, he was riding a Hayabusa, which means he must have been a more experienced biker, but that isn’t an excuse. It doesn’t matter if you ride a 50cc scooter or a 660cc+ sports bike, the bottom of the floor will treat you the same.

I feel great in my Scorpion EXO-700 helmet. It’s so comfortable, it’s like a second to my pillow.

July 18, 2009 at 2:40 am #20723yugen852ParticipantWell, where I live, 85 degrees is cool and breezy. In the caribbean, its summer throughout all year and we (well, not everyone) is used to the heat. But, I think that both of us will agree that being sweaty is far better than having a road rash tattoo.

I’m just saying, it gets BLOODY hot in all that gear during the summer, especially when it’s hotter than 85 and when there’s no breeze and high humidity. There’s definitely reason to WANT to take it off, whether or not you do.

July 22, 2009 at 12:24 am #20847kirkParticipantIt was about 104 a couple of days ago but I still had full gear on. Hotter then hell but it beats road rash
July 22, 2009 at 8:28 pm #20868Zig308ParticipantSaw tons of people riding in Ohio last week… no helmet, barely a shirt, and maybe some tennis shoes. Even if one figures when their time is up – it’s up… I still can’t imagine what a flying stone off the highway would feel like on your forehead?
